VirusTotal.com: Scan Files for virus online before downloading

The internet is the largest source of computer threats and infections. Most time when we surf the web or download files from the internet we may not know the dangers of downloading such files to our computer without scanning them, our computer antivirus may not always have all the virus definitions and may not detect the entire viruses a file we just downloaded may come in with.

That is why it is very paramount we scan files online with VirusTotal before downloading them. VirusTotal is a free online virus, malware and URL Scanner that allows you to scan a file for virus or scan a file URL for malware/virus before you downloading such file.

How to Use VirusTotal:

Copy the URL of the file you want to scan online with VirusTotal by right clicking on the file and copying the file location.

Visit VirusTotal Website and click on “Scan URL” just under the “Scan it” button paste the copied URL . Then press the Scan it button to start analyzing the URL for any threats.

After the URL has been analyzed, the analysis result will be displayed; if there are threats in the file it will indicate the threat. There are over 40 different antivirus solutions in VirusTotal. So even if a virus escapes one it can’t escape the others.

If the scanner detects any threat it’s shown in red else the result will be shown in green to indicate that the file is virus free, and then you can download such file.

Now i hoe you will never get infected again through files you downloaded, please ensure to scan files online for virus or malwares before downloading such files using VirusTotal.
