Oftentimes people ask me “what is the size of Whatsapp profile picture?” and while it seemed like any square size will work, it’s often not the case. There are some specific Whatsapp profile picture dimensions that will fit but this depends on the size of smartphone you are using.
So in this article I am going to explain why some of your photos cannot be accepted by Whatsapp as a profile picture except you crop it, and specific image dimensions you can use as Whatsapp profile picture.
I will also show you how you can use any picture as your Whatsapp profile picture even without cropping it. Cropping pictures seems to always cut off the good parts, so I will show you how to avoid cutting off the good parts of your photos before you use it as your Whatsapp profile picture.
Whatsapp Profile Picture Sizes
For normal 4-5 inches or larger smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and S5 and other high end smartphones with 4-5 inches screen sizes, the Whatsapp profile picture size should be at least 192×192 pixels. But if you are using any smaller phone with smaller screen sizes less than 4inches, then the minimum supported size of Whatsapp profile picture is 140×140 pixels.
You can simply use MS-Paint, MS-Office Picture Manager or even Macromedia Fireworks to resize your photos to the appropriate Whatsapp profile picture size. Simply set the height and width to the same size to create the perfect square size that can be accepted by Whatsapp as your display photo.
