Save Files directly to the Cloud without downloading them

March 8, 2014 By Nwosu Desmond 5 Comments

In a previous article published on this blog titled “Save files directly to Dropbox from the internet using sideCLOUDload”, I explained  how you can save files directly to Dropbox with sideCLOUDload without having to download it first. sideCLOUDload is a web app that lets you send files from URL directly to cloud (Dropbox and email) without downloading to your computer or mobile device first.

sideCLOUDload is an awesome app but with limitation to just Dropbox alone, what if you are out of storage spaces on Dropbox and want to use other cloud storage services like Google Drive, SkyDrive, Box.net, Amazon Cloud Drive, SugarSync etc?

So in this article I have decided to introduce you to other awesome services that can allow you to save files directly to other cloud services other than Dropbox without downloading them first.

1. Save Web Files: This is a project by Amit Agarwal of Digital Inspiration that allows you to save files directly to your Dropbox, Google Drive or Windows Live SkyDrive accounts without having to download the files first to your computer or mobile device.

Save Files directly to the Cloud without downloading them

It’s simple to use, simply enter the file’s web URL, select the cloud service you want to save it to and within few seconds the file will become available in your online account.  This is service is essentially useful for mobile users as they can remotely download files.

2. Cloud Save: This is a Chrome extension that lets you save files directly to the cloud without downloading them. Cloud Save supports cloud services like Google Docs, Box.net, Dropbox, Amazon Cloud Drive, Windows Live SkyDrive, SugarSync, Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, Min.us, Twitpic and more.

Save Files directly to the Cloud without downloading them

Simply install it on your Chrome browser and it will add a “Cloud Save” tab on your mouse right click button. So when you want to save any file to the cloud without downloading it first, simply right click on the file link and choose “Cloud Save” from the drop down menu and select the cloud service you want to save it to.

3. Download to Dropbox: Download to Dropbox though limited to just Dropbox is yet another great Chrome extension that lets you save files directly to the cloud without downloading them to your PC or mobile first. This extension simply adds a “Upload to Dropbox” tab on your mouse right click option, so when you right click on any web file you want to send to Dropbox and select upload to Dropbox, the file will appear on your Dropbox public folder after awhile.

I hope you find these tools useful just as I did. Now you can be able to save files directly to the cloud without having to download them. If you know of other services that let one save files directly to the cloud without having to download them first, please use the comment section below to share with me.
