Nokia joins the tablet race with Nokia Lumia 2520

October 23, 2013 By Nwosu Desmond 2 Comments

Nokia Lumia 2520 is the latest addition to the ever growing number of tablets in the market. The growth of mobile technology over the past few years has seen many companies join the tablet race with Nokia being the latest of them.

Nokia Lumia 2520 is Nokia’s first Windows tablet that has been on rumors for over a year now. You can say the Nokia Lumia 2520 is just an over-sized Windows Lumia phone and you won’t be far from it.

What comes to surprise is how Nokia will produce a tablet that will directly go into competition with Microsoft’s Windows tablets just months after the internet giants acquired Nokia. In the next few months the Nokia Lumia 2520 will compete with Microsoft’s Surface tablets for   their share of the Windows-based tablet market share.

Nokia Lumia 2520 Specifications & Price in Nigeria

Nokia Lumia 2520 has a 10.1-inch AH-IPS LCD display with a five-point multitouch made out of a Gorilla glass 2 and 1080p resolution and 221ppi. The Nokia Lumia 2520 comes in a range of bright colours and has two cameras, a 6.7MP with auto focus ZEISS optics rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 2MP HD wide-angle front camera for video calls/chats. The video camera can record at 1080p @ 30fps main, 720p secondary.

With a dimension of 267 x 168 x 8.9mm, the Nokia Lumia 2520 weighs just 615g, a little heavier than the 2014-edition of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and a little lighter than the 4th-generation iPad or the Microsoft Surface 2.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 is powered by one of the most capable ARM-based SoCs out there – the Snapdragon 800 which is backed by a 2GB RAM which helps the CPU reach 2.2GHZ which is enough processing power to run any task you can think of on the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet even games.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows tablet runs on Windows 8.1 RT, a limited variation on the Windows 8 OS that uses that system tile-based touch screen feature. It also come with voice call support, quad-band 2G, penta-band 3G, LTE: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 13, 17, 20; Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and a microUSB 3.0 port.

With an in-built 32GB storage space and an expandable microSD slot of up to another 32GB, and a 8,000mAh battery the Nokia Lumia 2520 is indeed a great device.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 will cost roughly N80k (80 Thousand Naira in Nigeria) ($499). The official release date has not been set yet but be sure Netmediablog will update you with that once it’s been made available by Nokia.
