List of Must-Have SEO Tools for Beginners

March 16, 2013 By Nathan Brown 14 Comments

It is not possible to teach someone to become a good writer. No one can teach anybody to write a good article. So, if you are planning to boost your Search Engine Optimization strategy with tools make sure you have good content to back up your strategy. A good content attracts the attention of people and gives a purpose for them to visit your website. If you don’t have good articles, then you are one among the million others who just post junk on websites which is not going to get you any real visitors or the best page rankings. First, make sure you have well equipped resources before you start looking out for tools.

Here are a few effective tools you can consider for Search Engine Optimization:

List of Must-Have SEO Tools for Beginners

List of SEO Tools for Beginners:

Copyscape:

It is the first and foremost tool to own. Any search engine hates plagiarized content and penalizes the particular website for it. Duplicate content is a clear indication that new information is not being uploaded online. There was a time when people used to steal others’ content. Google has come up with a new rule that states one cannot copy content. However, it is impossible to manually check if a particular content is copied or not. Thanks to Copyscape, we can easily detect plagiarized content. Though there are myriad plagiarism tool floating online, Copyscape is widely accepted.

Keyword research:

SEO banks on the particular keywords browsers often use to find particular information. Of late, many write articles revolving around particular keywords.  Keywords have become powerful tool for SEO marketing. SEO analysts look out for popular phrases people use to find particular information. For example, if a browser is looking for an internet service provider, he or she is going to type ‘internet service providers in LA’ or ‘most economical service provider’. One takes this phrase, use it as a keyword and build an article. This increases the visibility on a search engine as the article contains the exact words typed by a browser. Since you cannot research on keyword usage, you can make use of keyword research tools like Wordstream, Bing Keyword Tool, Google Keyword Tool and more.

URL Shortener:

A trending Search Engine Optimization strategy today is guest blogging. People write articles for a different blog circling around the same niche and submit it to the respective blog owner. If he or she is happy with the article, it gets posted on their website with a back-link to the original site. This has proved really effective and a lot of SEO companies are channelizing on this strategy. The article you write has its perks when you add URL to the article. Since there are many URLs that are longer and can go for two lines, you can use the URL shortener tool. It simplifies the link and provides a shorter version. You can use this for any URL’s you mention on any content. Some of the popular tools include Bit.ly, goo.gl and more.

Sitemaps:

Sitemaps might sound like a complex procedure, but in short they help to index your site easily. As the name suggests, Sitemap is a hierarchical map that clearly shows how one page is linked or connected to another. This in turn helps the search engine understand the link hierarchy of every link. There are two languages that are available to create a Sitemap. One id HTML and the other is XML. Though many are familiar with HTML, XML is a better option for search engine optimization. This language is exclusively for search engines and help indexing your site accurately and quickly. Google provides a sitemap generator and you don’t have to learn the language just to create a sitemap.

Thanks for the addition, i totally agree with you Analytics is a great addition to the list, though it could work as a two edged sword. It will encourage you when you are doing well or discourage you epecially when you are putting more effort without seeing any effect.
