Now let’s get started, if you read my blog post Best BitTorrent Clients you would’ve known that torrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amount of data, so since this protocol is a peer-to-peer sharing protocol, you can only give and receive at same rate. The way that torrents work is that it allows you to download at about your upload speed. So if you are uploading at a fast speed you will also download at same speed.

So what if there is a way to trick the torrent client to think you are uploading at a fast speed so you can download at a fast speed too? This was the idea I had until I found a perfect application that can do this easily. GreedyTorrent is an application that runs hand in hand with other torrent clients, GreedyTorrent will allow you tweak your upload speed so you can download at a faster speed.

How to increase Torrent download speed using GreedyTorrent:

Step 1: Download GreedyTorrent and uTorrent and install them both on your PC.

Step 2: Launch the just installed GreedyTorrent and under the ‘Report my Upload as’ change the upload to download, then click on ‘Preference’. Copy the port number as indicated on the image below.

Step 3: Then launch your Torrent client (uTorrent in this case), click on ‘Options’ and choose ‘Preference’.

Step 4: Select ‘Connection’ and enter the post number you copied from Greedytorrent and enter 127.0.0.1 on the proxy and choose Http protocol type as indicated on the image below.

Step 5: Then apply and Ok. Then restart the GreedyTorrent and uTorrent, then GreedyTorrent will power your uTorrent, start your torrent download and see the fast speed.

Notice and compare the upload speed and download speeds on the torrent downloads above. While i am uploading at 0.1kb/s i am downloading at 203.9kb/s. Is this not awesome? Now i can download my torrents faster and so should you.
