Google+ Comments for WordPress

April 26, 2013 By Nwosu Desmond 21 Comments

Google+ comments was recently introduced by Blogger, it is fast becoming the comment system for blogger blogs as more and more blogs are beginning to integrate it into their blogs. WordPress users are not left out as a Google+ comments plugin has been developed for WordPress blogs. If you are on blogger platform and you are still yet to integrate the Google+ comments to your blog, quickly read Babanature’s post on “How to enable Google Plus Comment Box on Blogger Blog”.

For WordPress users, the Google+ Comments for WordPress lets you use the Google+ comments system on your WordPress site just as those in Blogger blogs. Implementing the Google+ comments for WordPress into your WordPress blog will seamlessly replace your default WordPress comment system (or any third party comment system) you use on your blog.

Google+ comments for WordPress

The Google+ comments for WordPress is still in its early stage of development and as such may not have a lot of features (probably the reasons why I am still using my old comment system). But one cannot ignore the advantages of using the Google+ comments system for your blog. Using this plugin on your blog will improve your social media activity especially where it matters most – Google+.

How to activate Google+ Comments for WordPress:

1. Download the Google+ comments for WordPress Plugin here.

2. Upload the Google+ comments for WordPress to your WordPress plugin directory ‘wp-content/plugins/’ or through your dashboard ‘Plugins > add new > upload’

3. Activate the plugin from the dashboard.

Note: You can also use your default comment system at the same time on your WordPress blog with Google+ comments for WordPress.

Google+ comments for WordPress may not have the best features yet when compared to other WordPress comment system yet it’s worth a try. You can try it out and tell me what you think of the plugin. Use the comment form below to ask your questions about this plugin. Remember to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Known Issues: The toggle to switch between Google+ comments and WP comment system may not work yet but the developer has promised to fix it and add even more features in its next update.

Perfect Guide . I heard about the Google + Comments recently on My Blogger Lab . But there it was mentioned that this was available only for Blogger . When I saw your post in CommentDX , I immediately headed over to here and read the tutorial .
    Thanks a lot .

    Hello Nwosu,
I tested the plugin 3 days back on my demo wordpress site and got error while using the plugin. So i’d say the developer of that plugin has not done its work completely. But according to him, the plugin is under construction. Thanks for sharing and do have a great week ahead…

This has drawn considerable attention these days -why not? After all it is by big G!

Implementing Google Comments on your blog certainly has one startling traffic – there’s more chance that your post will spread in Google+. Definitely a great thing to expect.

What I did not like about it is, you can’t comment if you don’t have Google account or you don’t want to use your Google account to comment. I wonder why they won’t allow to enter name and URL to make comment.

Google plus comments is awesome, we already know that Google plus share influence Google search and whenever someone comment through Google plus comment, post shared on the feed of the commenter, so you can get huge exposure and you can influenced search results by using Google plus comment.

I like the idea of comments being across the site and the G+ site. But I don’t want to lose commentluv or including twitter username (like you have here on your comment form)

That is definitely one thing i don’t want to let go too, i have built a good base of backlinks via the default WordPress comment system on other related blogs, this new Google+ comments plugin won’t provide me with such feature. So for now am sticking with default WordPress comment system and CommentLuv

The importance of integrating Google+ comments in any blog is understandable. Slowly but steadily Google+ is growing its user base and it’s definitely going to be the net-workers choice. So, I’m happy to know that Google+ comments system is now easily available for WordPress. Thanks a lot for sharing!
