Best BitTorrent clients

April 14, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond 3 Comments

What is Torrenting? According to Wikipedia  is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amount of data. Torrent allows users to send and receive files in small pieces across the internet and reassembled by the software after downloads. This enables faster download speeds and lower bandwidth usage. There are hundreds of millions of BitTorrent users globally.

How does Torrenting work? A torrent client is required for torrent to take place. These clients includes the popular uTorrent, Bitcomet,Bittornado,Azures,XBT, ABC etc. For a torrent download to take place you must first of all download the torrent file which contain all the information about the file to download. When you begin the torrent download, the torrent client downloads the file in pieces and reassembles them after the complete download. Trackers are the torrent servers and are also contained on the torrent file. Like I said earlier torrenting is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol, which means every torrent download you make is from someone’s computer.

BitTorrent clients: I want to introduce you to some BitTorrent clients today, you may be conversant with one or two. It won’t hurt if you know more right?

uTorrent: uTorrent is my best BitTorrent client because it has all essential features like priotarization that allows you to assign priorities to the torrents, supports trackless torrenting, allows selective downloading which helps you select files to download within the torrent you want to download, protocol encryption to protect you from traffic shaping, has a built-in Tracker, supports remote control, seeds fast, and importantly it supports UPnP Port Mapping. Now you see why it’s my best?

Bitcomet: Bitcomet is yet another torrenting client Though may not be in the leagues of uTorrent but it’s still a torrenting client.

Azureus (vuze): if I don’t use uTorrent I will be using the Azureus because it’s one of the best. It supports same features like uTorrent.

: BitTorrent is the official BitTorrent software that has same features like uTorrent. It supports different operating systems, nice interface and can download fast.

Deluge: So similar to uTorrent and BitTorrent, Deluge is not so user-friendly as the others discussed above, Deluge has remote control capacities but requires you to enter a special 6-digit code which is generated by clicking on tools then remote pairing into remote.vuza.com.

FrostWire: FrostWire is a BitTorrent client that has some interesting features like faster torrent speeds, friendly online chat rooms, iTune compatible.
