8 Ways to Promote Your Blog – Netmediablog

October 14, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond 19 Comments

Blogging is becoming more and more popular. Andy Warhol once said that in the future, everyone would be famous for 15 minutes. If he were alive today, he might have said that everyone would have a blog!

8 Ways to Promote your Blog

8 Ways to Promote your Blog.

Whether it is a personal or business blog, you want people to read your work. So how do you promote your blog so that others will check it out? Here are some tips on promoting your blog:

1. Connecting with other bloggers:

You don’t necessarily need to look at others in your field as the competition. Depending upon the field, they might become allies. For example, if you write a sports blog on the New York Jets, you might want to reach out to other bloggers and add them to your blogroll. A blogroll is a list of other related blogs that your readers might be interested in. You can also mention other bloggers in your blog. If you are starting out, and get a bigger blog’s attention, they might send traffic your way.

2. Leaving comments on other sites:

Besides blogrolling, a good practice is to comment on other blogs with your name and a link to your blog. Don’t be spammy about it, though – leave good comments that can stand on their own, and that you would be proud of to have linked to your name. Another thing you might consider is leaving comments on newspaper sites on subjects in your field. For example, if you are a recruiter, you might want to weigh in on career articles on the site.

3. Writing good content that will be shared:

Make sure that you have share buttons on your blog ready for your articles to be shared with others. That means Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and other sharing sites like StumbleUpon. Of course, that means that you are writing articles that others way want to share.

4. Participating in social media:

If you build up a following on Facebook, Twitter, and the like, you can have a ready-made audience for your articles. Of course, make sure you read and share some of your followers’ articles if you want to have them checking out and sharing your work, too. If all you do is promote your blog, people may stop listening.

5. Guest blog:

One of the hottest ways to get publicity for your blog these days is with guest blogging. You can write for another person’s blog, get them intriguing content, and get a link back to your blog so that others can see what you’re all about. This is a great way to not just help your SEO, but to get people interested in your blog and in reading more from you.

6. Good SEO:

Speaking of SEO, great SEO practices are a good way to increase your website traffic. By doing best SEO practices, such as writing descriptive articles, you could see more people finding – and clicking on – your article.

7. Reach out to the media:

Granted, the New York Times is not likely to do an article about your blog unless you do something spectacular or outrageous. But you may be able to get smaller media coverage by being quoted in a topical article. A good place to start is the Help a Reporter Out mailing list. Every day, reporters are looking for experts to interview for articles. Subscribe to the list, and you could be one of them.

8. Google ads:

Some blogs have had success in having their ads show up when people search for certain keywords. However, these ads can be expensive, and good result in a big bill if you are not careful.

Nice ideas but they are basically what we know already, why not flesh it out a bit and add a little detail on how to go about the steps.
Also, is there no role for article marketing and blog aggregation sites in blog marketing?
I’ll like you to address this issues. Thanks.

This post really inspired me! This increased my blog traffic by an average of 100-150 views. Their are just difficult adjustments on my blog to be SEO-friendly. I also shared my posts on Stumble upon and my traffic dramatically increased up to 700 views per day! Now I am having an average of 1000 views per day!

    the content say’s it all,
just to ad buyinh media(banner ads) On blogs with similar
demographic can also help in promoting your site/blog.

this can be done using the Google ad platform, by using their content
