5 SERP Promotion Strategies that Google Cannot Resist

September 30, 2013 By Nwosu Desmond 15 Comments

Google has maintained its position as the number one search engine, which has a little over 70% of all monthly searches. This means that in order to promote your website, you should consider optimizing it for Google. However, with so many algorithm changes and unexpected announcements, webmasters have become very confused regarding the promotion strategies that they should apply.

They are probably asking themselves the same question that you are at this very moment: How do I get my business to show up in the top searches? Although it is still unclear to us how algorithms work, and what it is exactly that Google penalizes (because the search engine has significantly evolved, and it ranks results with the help of thousands of parameters), but we have managed to somehow understand what the Google Algorithm cannot resist. Here are the top five strategies that you should consider if you want to grow your website.

1. Go Mobile

It was only a matter of time until mobile technology would take the world by storm. It should seriously not come as a surprise that the industry of mobile devices has evolved so much in the past few years. It is actually predicted that smart-phones will surpass laptops in sales by 2014. This is because more and more users are constantly on the move.
Go Mobile
According to recent studies, 88% of mobile ad clicks are incremental to organic clicks (this means that you will receive more clicks overall if you use paid advertising). Furthermore, more and more sites have been optimized for mobile use, and they have registered an exponential increase in traffic. Google loves mobile technology because it is truly useful to the average user, and it will rank optimized sites better than non-optimized ones.

2. Google+ and Google Authorship

The Google Authorship may be just another elaborate plan through which Google wants to secure some extra revenue, but the fact of the matter is that Google+ works and it is one of the best promotion strategies. It is the perfect medium for business-minded people and writers. It is also with the help of Google+ that you can claim authorship.
Google Authorship
The authorship markup promises to rank your content better (if you are a prolific writer) and also boost the SEO value of your content. Fact or fiction? We still do not know, but hopefully we will find out soon. Don’t wait for things to become official, if you have time, you should start your activity on Google asap.

3. Local Keywords

Keywords have always been a crucial part of SEO, and in most cases, if the primary keyword was not chosen accordingly, the whole campaign failed. Keywords have gone through numerous transformations, and it seems that at present, the most effective ones are local keywords and long tail keywords. They are used to find information within your target area.

In this day and age, people are looking for services that are easily accessible to them. Make sure you focus on relevant keywords that describe your location, activity and company name. If you are having trouble selecting the primary keyword, you can always use SEO tools like Market Samurai, or Keyword Spy, that will help you more accurately determine the perfect fit for your business.

4. Map-Listings

Considering that you have met the above criteria, you might also want to focus on map-listings a little bit. If you are a service provider, you will want the consumer to find you via mobile or desktop. Map listing is critical in getting found on Google, so make sure you claim and update it after every event. Map-listings will ensure that people find out about your existence long before they ever visit your website.

5. Social Signals

Social signals have become some of the most effective parameters in determining the authority of a website. The days of simply creating back-links (which are still important) are long gone. Now you have to consider a multitude of tactics in order to grow on search engines. Google has create a social algorithm that also ranks content and pages according to their influence on social media sites.
Social Media

In other words, every like, +1 or Retweet counts, so try to expand your presence on as many social networks as possible, and also make sure that you create a loyal community. You can also utilize Vine or Instagram in order to strengthen your promotion strategies, because these networks have become very popular.

In conclusion, older tactics like creating back-links and high-quality content are still useful, but I wished to focus on the latest developments that will help you gain the competitive edge.

    Hi,

Thanks for sharing some unknown promotion strategies for increasing the search engine rank for my blog. I have never tried Map Listing for the blog, and guess that should be very useful for building my blog a online reputation.

And also yes, Google+ and Google Authorship plays a major role in ranking, and I have started working more on Google+ than sharing in Facebook.

    Hi,
    Very rightly said.
And in keeping with the present trends and indications, you have rightly placed the need for getting a responsive theme on the top.
A large percentage of people access the internet through the internet these days without bothering to touch their computers. The need for going mobile, therefore, cannot be overestimated.

Mostly Google is interested in the number of times your post is shared, retweeted, +1’ed etc. So the more you post is shared by people on the social media sites, Google sees it as a relevant post for people and tend to rank it high.
