3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Dedicated Phone Line

June 14, 2013 By Nwosu Desmond 13 Comments

Most businesses have moved their primary method of communication with one another and their customers to an online based strategy. Even though e-mail and instant messaging is convenient, businesses still need to have phone lines for their business needs.

Connectivity

Having a business phone line is not only an advantage for you. It will also have positive consequences on your business’ communication with its customers. If you do not currently have a business phone line, and rely on online communication, you will improve customer relations by being accessible by telephone. Not offering a phone communication option to your customers can turn them off of your business. A business phone line is not only advantageous for business to customer communication, but also business-to-business communication. If the staff of a company is all set up with business phone lines on their own devices, it will open up the communication channels between all employees. This is not exclusive to phones calls, but also instant messaging.

Easy to Set Up

You already have everything you need to set up a business phone line. There is no need to go out and purchase a secondary mobile device with a business phone number. Use your existing smartphone. Download a free phone number app onto your personal mobile device and get a phone number within your area code. There is no reason to use your personal mobile network plan for your business needs. Plus, having an in-phone platform allows you to manage and monitor usage of business phone lines.

Set up different groups of contacts, just as you would in your own mobile address book. You have the ability to make groups for your business contacts, colleagues, and even your customers. With the ability to communicate easily with your customers via mobile, it also opens up the opportunity to market your products and services to them easily.

Privacy

The best part of having a business phone line on your personal mobile device is that there is no need for you to purchase additional hardware, or always be at a desk to answer calls. There is also no need to be worried about the problems that always being connected can cause. Having a dedicated business phone line provides you with all the connectivity ease and convenience, with the ability to also differentiate which calls are for business, and which are personal. You get a phone number that is different than your personal one, so there is no concern over compromising your privacy. It is also within your control to set up how you want to receive business calls.

With the ease of setting up a business phone line on your personal mobile device, there is no reason not to have one. Clear communication channels within a business, and to its customers, is essential to being able to complete business efficiently. Communication is likely the most important factor of running a successful business. Being connected to your business needs at all times will ensure that nothing gets overlooked and that operations are running smoothly.

Whether you have an additional land line installed for your business or you decide to use a dedicated cell phone as your primary business number, the biggest benefit of having a separate phone number is that whenever that phone rings, you’ll know it’s a business call. Additionally, your kids will know not to answer the phone when you get an incoming business call if you don’t want them to answer your business calls
