October 26, 2013 By Nwosu Desmond 11 Comments

Just recently some buttons of my laptop keyboard got bad that they won’t work when pressed. This makes it very hard whenever I want to compose a new post or reply to comments. So I decided to find a way I could use my android tablet as a keyboard for my PC. Then I discovered Monect.

Monect is an Android app that lets you control your computer over WiFi or Bluetooth. With Monect you can turn your android tablet into a touchpad, joystick, keyboard etc. You can use Monect to explore files on your computer via your android tablet, simulate joystick to play games, transfer text composed on your tablet to your PC, access your browser, control your media player etc.

So if you need to use your android tablet or mobile phone as a keyboard for your computer any day, Monect can help you achieve such and many more. Now let me show you how to use android tablet as computer keyboard with Monect.

How to use Android tablet as computer keyboard

Simply visit play store and search for Monect or click on this link to visit the play store page for Monect Portable app. Download and install the Monect portable app on your android tablet or any other android device you want to use. Monect requires android devices running on android version 2.2 and up.

Then visit this link to download Monect desktop server, after you have downloaded the monect_v2.0.3.zip, extract the folder and run the MonectHost.exe file on your PC, grant the file access to network on request.

Then launch the Monect desktop server app you installed on your PC. Ensure your PC and tablet are connected to same wireless network. I used connectify to connect my android tablet to my PC. Then launch the Monect portable app you installed on your android tablet and press the scan host button to search for your PC.

Once a host (your PC) is found the app will connect to your Monect desktop server. You will see 12 modes to choose from, you can choose touchpad to use your tablet as a computer mouse, typewriter keys to use your tablet as computer keyboard or you can choose function keys to access the computer function keys on your android device.

You can even choose shooter mode to use your tablet as gyroscope to aim the target just like a real gun in your hand while playing games, or you can choose media mode to control your PC media player from your android tablet etc.

So if you ever need to use your android tablet as computer keyboard, touchpad etc then Monect is all you need. I hope you find this tutorial very useful, use the share buttons to share this tutorial with your friends, you never know who may need it.
