This morning my phone rang and a strange phone number was calling, before I could pick up my phone the call dropped. So I decided to check out the contact details of the unknown number that called me before I could call back.
So I used a web service called TrueCaller that lets one search for the contact details of any phone number in the world. That way you can find out who is calling you even if you do not have their phone numbers saved in your phone.
TrueCaller is an awesome web app, I find myself always using it any time I get a missed call from an unknown number. TrueCaller is also available on other platforms except the web such as iOS, Android, Windows, Symbian OS and Blackberry.
How TrueCaller Works:
TrueCaller is just like a global phone directory categorized according to countries. You can simply use this service as a free phone number lookup to look up the contact details of any unknown phone numbers.
You can use either the web service or install the app on your smartphone. On the web interface all you need to do is simply sign in with your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Then you can search for any phone number by simply entering the number and clicking the search button.
For mobile users, simply download the TrueCaller mobile app for your respective mobile platforms from the download page.
Install the app on your smartphone and any time an unknown number calls you, the app will search the TrueCaller number directory and reveal the name and location of your caller.
With TrueCaller you will never pick an unwanted call especially from telemarketers reported as spam. You can also sync your social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn with TrueCaller to update your phone contact with your friend’s profile pictures and status updates.
Unlist your number from TrueCaller
If for any reason you don’t want anyone to search your contact details via TrueCaller, you can request for your number to be unlisted from TrueCaller.
