Last year 2013 saw a lot of changes in content creation, a trend which has transcended into 2014. This year is going to see some changes towards content creation and the nature of contents that will sell. This post is aimed at equipping you with the right content creation tips for 2014.
It’s no secret that high-quality contents are rewarded by search engines and by readers, but how can one create a better content this year? Improving the quality of your content in 2014 will be the best blogging resolution you can make this year and here are some tips to creating better content in 2014.
People want short, visual content:
After reading SlideShare Zeitgeist 2013 I realized a couple of changes in content creation. People want short, visual contents a trend that has been on the increase in recent years. This may have been as a result of the increase in the percentage of smartphone users.
So in 2014 you should consider keeping your contents short and straight to point but ensure to add great visuals like images and videos. The bigger the visuals the better as a lot of studies have confirmed that contents with big images converts more than those with smaller or no images at all.
Quality over Quantity:
If you are a long time reader of my blog you will realize I have been an advocate of high content quality. In 2014 it is not going to be any different, content quality will always be the difference in which site performs better than the other.
With all the recent search engine updates you should never compromise your content quality. Instead of publishing low quality contents all the days of the week I’ll rather publish one quality content for the whole of the week. This year it is going to be quality over quantity as always on Netmediablog, I hope you do same.
Diversify your Content types:
In 2013 there was a massive growth of infographic contents and I bet you know with the increased growth of smartphone users more videos where made last year, this year won’t be any different. The trend is on a steady increase, so you should take advantage of this information in diversifying the type of content you share this year.
If in previous years you have only shared text contents, I recommend you do something a little bit different this year. Mix it up with videos, Infographics and presentations. Reach a wider audience with your diverse content type this 2014. This is definitely one tip to creating better content in 2014 you should not ignore.
Publish Social Shareable Contents:
The role of social media in internet marketing can never be over emphasized. You need more social media this year than ever. Create contents people will naturally want to share with their friends on the social networks. Solve people’s problems in your blog posts, give them better understanding of whatever concept you are writing about and they will most likely share your content on the social networks.
Make it Mobile Friendly:
The number of mobile users is startling and will continue to grow as the year goes, ensure to test your content on mobile devices before publications. Ensure your content is mobile friendly before you publish them nothing turns off a reader faster than content with wonky spacing or strange looking formatting.
Who do you have in mind while creating contents?
Who do you have in mind while creating contents – Search engines or humans? If you want to create a better content this year, you must have your readers in mind while creating your content. With HummingBird in full swing, creating content that solves people’s question is more important than ever.
So ensure to create only contents that answer your audience questions and help them solve whatever problems they are looking for solutions to.
Authorship:
You must claim your Google authorship this year if you have not already done so. The era of creating anonymous contents is over. Every content must have an identity and if you want to create better contents in 2014 you must claim your Google authorship.

You are right Desmond, 2014 should be the year of “better contents”. Your tips have defined some of the steps that should help in generating those better contents.
Talking about diversification of contents, 2014 is going to bring in the sharing of more mobile friendly infographics as against the static types.
Mobile and social trend are going to dominate in contents as you have noted. I agree with you!

Creating content that sells is what matters and it is what i go for- If you want to go far in this business of our, then you need to first put the users in mind and not the search engines.
Thanks for this tutorial, i love this stuffs to help me to stay in track.
Nwosu,
I agree with most of the facts. This year I started using new blog theme which is responsive. If people undervalue mobile users then they are undervaluing their blog itself.
Though, I feel like big blogs like Mashable are more likely focusing on quantity instead of quality.
Thanks for the share :)
I like what you said about quality of quantity. I would much rather have 2-3 quality posts over 5-7 not so quality posts. Over time the quality will out last quantity. That is my take on it!
thanks for sharing it to us nwosu.. this means i do not have to create long post to make it high quality. this means shorter time creating posts. in terms of images, i have a lot of sources of free images. :) bookmarked for future use.
indeed, nice post. you just cleared up the fact about content creation. most bloggers believe that quantity post with 6000+ words stands a better chance of drawing visitors to blog than quality post with 2000+ words..quantity has no advantage over quality.Complete guide to root samsung galaxy 4 google edition.
Sometimes you wonder if your content is really any good, thought you worked hard for it. But one thing I can suggest, just like what the other bloggers sad that quality is better that quantity. Value is a must in all aspects.
Additionally, decide on a hook,I mean every piece of content you write should have a hook.
I found this post shared on Kingged.com, the Internet marketing social bookmarking and networking site, and I “kingged” it and left this comment.

I’d like the point “Quality over Quantity”…
people do not want long and lengthy article from bloggers, but want a short but quality content…
thanks for sharing it…
Reasonable recipe for content strategy. For sure, content is more important than ever before. Analytics can definitely help to find which pages have lower bounce rate and top exiting pages, so this can be a good reference point.
Hello,
I agree with your point, 2014- year of better content. The best part of your article which I loved is Quality over Quantity.
