A simple question to different bloggers revealed several reasons for blogging. Different people come into blogging with different or same goals in mind – Success. I am no judge, but for whatever reason you came into blogging, you must have had your expectations and it’s always frustrating when expectations are not met. This frustration grows even bigger with time if nothing changes and most times often lead to abandonment.
When you are not getting the result you expected from blogging, you may not be encouraged to push forward. Your motivation and dedication relies on the milestones you have accomplished to strive and the success of your blog heavily depends on it. Just like I said earlier, I am no judge to decide whether the reason you came into blogging is right or wrong but for what it’s worth oblige me to give you some advice.
If you are not getting your expected results from blogging, several factors may be responsible for it. Let’s face them heads on, because identifying the problems may give solutions to fixing them. So read carefully and be ready to implement.

Reasons you may not be getting your desired results in Blogging and what to do:
Patience: Patience is the virtue by which every successful blog has been built on, Darren Rowse of Problogger explained in an article “15 years Blogging and Still Learning” how important patience is if you want to succeed as a blogger. You really need lots of patience if you are to meet such expected results. Blogging sometimes take time to yield results. It may not come as early as you expected it but if you continue to be patient while doing the right things, you will always meet your expected results. So my friend, you have to be very patient.
Consistency: You have to be consistent in blogging, you don’t just abandon blogging mid-way and continue after a long time and yet expect results. It doesn’t work that way, you have to be consistent in your blogging activities both on-page and off-page. Consistency is the key to achieving your desired results. No successful blogger has been inconsistent in blogging; if you find one don’t hesitate to tell me maybe I could learn from him.
Try Something Different: If you are not getting the results you desired in blogging, maybe it’s time you try something different there is a chance you may not be doing something right. You may have been blogging the wrong ways while expecting a different result, so try and change things around a little, start from redesigning your blog, to changing your writing style. Try a different traffic strategy and most importantly, change your thinking and reasoning.
Emulate successful blogs: Now I am not asking you to copy and paste other people’s hard work to be successful, you will be dragging yourself deeper in trouble if you try such. When I mentioned emulating some successful bloggers, I meant read and study other successful blogs, find out what makes them thick, if it’s their writing technique, emulate it. If it’s their traffic method, emulate it (provided its safe).
Note: What works for me may not work for you, so don’t keep your expectations very highly. Just keep trying until you find the one that best suits you.

Socialize with other Bloggers: Socializing with other bloggers can help you in a lot of ways, it can open up a total new horizon for you, it could give you an insight into a lot of things you may never have known. I am speaking from experience, I have learnt more than I could’ve ever learn on my own from my association from other bloggers. So go out there, join Social blogging communities on Facebook, LinkedIn etc. It will do you a lot of good as a blogger, be humble to learn from everyone and be wise to sieve what you have learnt and practice the best of them.
Lower your expectations: Don’t expect to become an overnight millionaire just because you recently started blogging, you will end up disappointing yourself. I know you will tell me how good it is to have a high expectation, but having a high expectation will only give you a bigger challenge and when you don’t succeed, you may disappoint yourself. I prefer to out-perform my expectations than not to meet them. It’s good to expect high, but be careful not to expect too much.
Quit Now: As hash as it sounds, if you know you are not blogging for the right reasons, my best advice for you now will be to quit. Yes, you heard me right – QUIT! You can never have the right attitude, motivation, drive, technique etc when you are not blogging for the right reasons. Your intentions about blogging must be right for you to succeed as a blogger. So save yourself the long term disappointment and quit now as a blogger and try something else now.
Over to you, tell me what you think about this article. Why do you think most bloggers don’t achieve their desired/expected results in blogging? You want to be the judge? Go on. Use the comment form below to share you views.
I have a little confession to make. Many of us joined this blogging train simply because of money. But as time went by, I’ve realized there is more to blogging than just money.
I now see my blog as a form of social media where people come to share their thought on what I’ve written.
Patience as well is the key to every success.
Socializing with other bloggers, that helps to a great extent. We can’t be blogging alone, we really need other bloggers to support us. That’s a very good point that you have mentioned.
About expectations, you are spot on again. Most of us blog with a mindset that we need to make money quickly.
Your last point about quitting is quite interesting.
Emmanuel you cant be more correct, with time you will begin to see your blog as a brand and one to really work hard to make it succeed. Thanks for your contribution.
Sourav, as hash as it may sound, it’s just the bitter truth. Thanks for your comment.
Remarkable post for the bloggers to understand and to do an enhanced blogging!
Yeah, Agree with your points except quitting. If you ended up your post with ” Try to follow all these ways or practice to do these things instead of quitting ” it would be better.
I wish that a blogger should not quit blogging, instead he/she should follow some successful strategies which you’ve listed here to do better blogging.
Anyway nice post for the bloggers, keep writing!
Hi Nwosu,
The most difficult aspect of blogging is persisting like hell, through thick and thin. I always tell folks to know why you wish to blog, and you will have few problems becoming a champion blogger because you will never, ever quit your venture.
Keeping at it can be difficult, but be patient. Build up a nice stash of cash through other ventures and you can be persistent without worrying about the monetary aspect of blogging.
Thanks for sharing!
Ryan
I read one of your articles days back and knew “social blogging communities” the same appears here…can you advice which to join on facebook and linkedin? I’m asking to cut off wasting time looking for an effective and productive community.
Hi Nwosu,
Great post again and it is much informative. The last point however, is really harsh to come to read up to there. But, yes, it is true. Blogging might not be everybody’s cup of tea and it is better to quit earlier if you are not going to make anything out of it.
Nirmala, i know it sounds a bit hash but every blogger may not be called into blogging, their calling may be into something else, so instead of wasting time and being impatient about success, don’t you think maybe the best thing will be for such a person to quit now and use his time into something else?
Thanks Ryan for your comment, persistence is the key to success.
Especially if you can’t be patience, persistent and ready to try new things.
Depends on your need there are some closed groups on Facebook that only accepts members by invitation only. Try searching Facebook for bloggers groups
Hi Nwosu!
Its good to see some of the things that we usually ignore and give less attention for getting success. I think the most important thing to get success in blogging is consistency and experimenting and trying different things and Lastly there should be no word like quit in our dictionary to get success from blogging.
Thanks.
Thanks for this post is really resourcefull.
Blogging is not easy just by hard work and Gods Intervention
I know the QUITTING option is quite hash, but i really think its the last option for any one who can not follow the guides above. Thanks for your correction though…
Thanks Donatus for your comment and i pray God blesses our efforts….
Hey Bro,
Its not easy to climb the mountain within a days its need more efforts, same thing comes to blogging need more patience and efforts sure it will take you to top of the mountain meanwhile nice post about blogging
Thanks for this tips. blogging is never easy, its just hard work and lots of patients.
Thanks for sharing
Having patience and being consistent are both important factors when it comes to blogging. I’m pretty consistent when it comes to blogging but not so much with social media. That’s why I have limited which social media sites I visit because it was getting way too hard to participate in all of them. You really pointed out some excellent points! Thanks for sharing!
Yes Nwosu!blogging is not a get rich quick business, you have to be patient, consistence, interact with other bloggers and learn from the them etc. With this in mind you can start to reap the fruit of your past labour, even am a living example-i have been blogging for more than two years without Google ads even affiliate marketing on my site and am planing to do that before the year runs out ,but i don’t blog everyday i blog thrice a week will this affect my ranking Nwosu? cheers bros.
Thanks Shameem for your comment, and am glad you found the article quite interesting. Yes blogging requires patience and consistency.
Thanks Donatus for your comment.
Thanks Maketta for your comment and one does not have to belong to all the social media sites to effectively perform in it.
Three times a week is quite ok provided you use the rest of the days to promote your content, it is irrelevant if you have a million articles with low quality and poor traffic, so you could be busy promoting your blog when you are not publishing. Blogging is not just all about writing and publishing.
You’ve just said it all Desmond,
One thing you mentioned here that really resonated with me is the issue of changing what you’re doing and trying out something else if what you’re doing is not working. Henry Ford defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result.
If you really want something to change for you, you must first of all change something yourself.
Its also very good to emulate those big blogs out there and be doing what they are doing instead of being envy.
Thanks for sharing such an amazing post brother.
Theo thanks for your comment…
The hallmarks of a successful blogger are patience and perseverance. You have to have faith in your capabilities and just stick out there.
Thanks for your comment dear…
Some people bragging that they can achieve Google’s first positions in couple weeks or even less! I think it depends from niche, keywords… and what technique they are using. We all know about white, grey, black hats… tactics. But still, in my opinion if you promote, work with your site honest it takes time. To see some great results I think should pass one or more months.
I totally agree with you Tomas, getting expected results from blogging may take some time but with dedication and the right tools, one will surely get there someday. Thanks for leaving a worthy comment on my blog.
