Trending topics are the most talked about topics at every point in time. This feature has been on Social networks like Twitter (Trending) and Google+  (What’s Hot) for a long time and now on Facebook (Trending). For awhile now Facebook have been beta testing a new feature called Trending, but few days ago the social network giants have confirmed they will soon be rolling out Trending Topics feature on their network for all.

The Facebook Trending will display a list of popular topics discussed on the network on the top right-hand corner of the browser for desktop users according to the user’s interests. “Trending topics” refers to a term or set of keywords that suddenly gained popularity.

How to leverage on Trending topics for better content creation

How to leverage Trending topics:

There are several ways we can leverage trending topics as content creators and to improve our websites. We could leverage on the big data for the following;

1. Keyword research

2. Content Topic Ideas

3. What People are interested within your Niche

4. Traffic & Engagement

Trending topics are topics people are most interested in, such topics already have high engagement percentage and large search volume. From a content-creation standpoint, we can leverage on what people are talking about in creating contents.

Leverage on keywords from such topics, people who do not follow you but searching for the topics (Since it’s already popular) will find your content. Such contents will easily find audience because people are already interested in them.

One of the biggest problems of content creators is finding content that is fresh, relevant and the right audience. As an internet marketer, blogger or content creator in general, you can “anchor” your content using trending topics. Create contents around what people are saying or what people are most interested in at every moment.

Look for contents that relates to your niche, give your readers what they are looking for. Trending topics is like your readers telling you what they want to read and what they will be most interested in through statistics and algorithms.

All you have to do is listen to them, make the connection and write contents they will be interested in, publish it while it is still trending and position it where they can easily find it by tagging it rightly with the trending keywords.

Building your content around popular topics could greatly improve your site as your content will meet an already interested audience, and such audiences usually spend quality time reading the content and engaging on it because they are interested in it.

Leverage Trending topics to attract traffic to your website. Convert news-hungry consumers into web traffic and improve your site engagement.
