How to Root Tecno F7 (Phantom A1) with ERoot & PdaNet

Tecno F7 also known as Tecno Phantom A1 is indeed an awesome smartphone and currently one of the cheapest smartphone in the Nigerian mobile market compared to other smartphones of same specification. So many people are currently buying this phone and today I want to share with you how to root Tecno F7 so as to gain root user access to your device. You can customize your smartphone as you want once you can gain a root access on it using the method I am going to share with you here today.

How to Root Tecno F7 (Phantom A1) with ERoot & PdaNet

In this tutorial I will cover how to root Tecno F7 (Phantom A1) using PdaNet and ERoot. The Tecno F7 or MT6577 has its bootloader locked and to root this device you can either root the Tecno F7 through a OneClick package or by extracting the boot.img file and modify it to remove the security.

Disclaimer: The intention and act of trying to gain root access on your Tecno F7 is solely your responsibility as I will not be held responsible if anything goes wrong during this process. I have personally tried this process and it worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

Requirements to root Tecno F7

A Computer (preferably a laptop) with internet connection

Android Debug Bridge (adb) installed (Download from Android Developers).

Enable USB debugging ( Settings >Applications > Development > USB debugging).

Pda.Net (Click here to download)

ERoot (Click here to download)

Now if you have downloaded all you need to root your Tecno F7, let’s get down to the process of rooting your Tecno F7 so we can gain root access to the device.

Install the Pda.Net you downloaded earlier on your PC, you will be prompted for device type choose ‘Other’. You will be asked to connect your Tecno F7 to the computer with USB debugging enabled as described above.

Simply go to Settings >Applications > Development > USB debugging and check the USB debugging option to enable it.

Extract the ERoot file you downloaded above and run the eroot.exe file. Ensure you have working internet connectivity on your PC to enable eroot install about 11MB of additional data. Ignore the Chinese language displayed and wait for awhile, a root button will appear but if for any reason it does not appear, exit the Pda.Net application running on your system tray.

Then click on the ‘Root’ button to root your Tecno F7, then disconnect your Tecno F7 from your PC and go to your device menu and you will find that SuperUser app has been installed on your Tecno F7.

Then reboot your Tecno F7 and have fun with the root access.

    Root will give you superuser access to your phone, an access that can allow you modify several things on your phone you couldn’t ordinarily be able to. You can even backup your stock ROM even.

    Every Android phone has USB debugging, just go to settings > applications >Development, you will see it there.

    Hello Mr Nwosu, I have done the rooting on my F7 but can’t find any app that i can download on the Superuser application… Because there’s no app to download its basically not useful. One more thing, can i upgrade my OS with this tutorial? Thanks in anticipation.

    I recently got a tecno N9 pad and it is great. but when I tried to root it there was no developer tab in the settings and I am sure as I am not new to rooting ( I have two other android devices). Do you have any advice as to how I can find it or make it appear?
