Interlinking old blog posts on new posts related to same topic or keyword can allow traffic flow to such old posts. Interlinking old blog posts with proper anchor texts is a recommended SEO practice that can give your old blog posts life once again.
I usually link to my old posts in new blog posts and this allows my readers to visit the old posts. This method will not only improve the visibility of your old posts but will also improve your general site SEO and reduce your site bounce rate as more readers are likely to visit and read more posts on your site.
This will also improve the time on site which can tell Google and other search engines how relevant and useful your posts are and this can improve your search engine ranking as well.
You can manually interlink your posts if your blog is still a new one or you can use the SEO Smart Links plugin to automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts.
3. Post Round Ups
Post round ups is yet another way to promote old blog posts. You can create weekly or monthly posts round ups listing all the posts you made within the time frame.
You can see the “Netmediablog May 2014 Post Round Up” to properly understand how to write a post round up and use it to promote old blog posts.
4. Related Post Widget/ Random Post Widget
Another awesome way to give your old blog posts life is by using either Related Post Widget or Random post Widget on your sidebar and after content. That way your site visitors can see your old posts listed on your sidebar or immediately after reading your article and can easily click on them to read them.
As you can see on this blog right sidebar, I have the Random Post Widget that randomly displays my old blog posts on the sidebar and the Related Post Widget that displays related posts immediately after my contents.

Hi Nwosu,
Thumbs up for the fantastic post. I really love all of the points mentioned by you. These are must follow points and one should follow them to keep the old post alive.
Apart from these, I also have some adds on for your blog post. We can also suggest some posts manually to the reader those are relevant to the current post. Apart from that, there should be a fine linking between one blog post to second and from second to third and then so on.
What I am trying to convey is that we have to create a web of relevant posts by suggesting links in between the posts. I am trying this strategy and I will share the results with you soon.
