December 4, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond 4 Comments

It is no more news that Microsoft Windows media player cannot play every media formats. It is common to occasionally come across media formats Windows media player cannot play. This is always a frustrating situation. Windows media player only supports the following media formats (.avi, .mov, .m1v,.mpeg, .mpg, .mpe, .m1v, .mp2, .mpv2, .mod, .vob,.mp4, .mov, .m4v,.wtv, .dvr-ms, .qt,.m2ts, .m2t, .wm, .wmv, and .asf). Microsoft tactically shunned third-party file types like .ogg, .mov and divx etc.

While some media players like VLC handles these media formats easily.
