How to Easily Transfer Phone Data when Switching Mobile Phones

December 14, 2014 By Daniel Dob 1 Comment

If you remember, a couple of days ago we covered a topic on how to transfer large files for free, and we’ll continue our series of how tos and let you know more about transferring data from one device to another. A lot of people switch phones regularly. Whenever their contract is ready for an upgrade, they will choose to make the switch, for instance. This means that it is now necessary to be able to switch data from one phone to another. An added difficulty, however, is that many of these phones tend to be of different brands and sometimes even with different operating systems. Once upon a time, we would have to copy all data onto our PC and then from the PC to the new phone, but there are now other options out there as well. Let’s take a look.2-samsung-galaxy-s5-gear-250214

WonderShare

WonderShare is a mobile transmission app that allows for the transfer for data between all the different operating systems (iOS, Android, Symbian). All of the data, from text messages to contacts, from photos to call ogs, from videos to apps and from documents to videos can be transferred, without losing any quality. Additionally, the app can be used as a backup and to restore data if something were to go wrong.

Samsung Smart Switch Mobile

This app has been designed specifically for those who want to switch between Apple devices and the latest Samsung Galaxy. Although not endorsed by Apply, Samsung has ensure the app is easy to use and also works to transfer data from other types of devices. One of its strengths is that it helps you to find the Android equivalent of your iOS apps for your new device. The transfer itself is incredibly easy, as it can work directly with the iCloud and with iTunes. For Android devices, the app can simply link the old device and the new device together and copy all the information over.

Transfer my Data

Finally, there is Transfer My Data. This is a great way to copy contacts from all different types of devices (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Phones and so on) to a Windows Phone. It uses Bluetooth to transfer all the data. Additionally, depending on your new device, the app may be able to copy pictures and text messages as well. The Nokia Lumia is an example of a phone that is able to do this. The way Transfer My Data works is by copying all of your contacts into the People Hub offered by Windows. It is very easy to link this to your social network and mail, call, follow or chat to your friends. Additionally, it is possible to transfer the data contained on SD cards as well.

Based on everything that has been outlined so far, the simple idea that implies that data does not have to be transferred manually from one device to another is a ‘miracle’ of the 21st century, as simply having to copy every contact, but also to transfer photos to a computer and then on the new phone is an incredibly slow, but also quite an annoying experience that people had to go through until now. With the use of the apps and services outlined above, no one will ever encounter such an issue again as long as they have access to a smartphone.
