How to Disable Windows Startup Programs with CCleaner

September 20, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond 1 Comment

Computer performance is based on the memory of the system and when so many processes are running on a PC, it becomes slow especially system with low physical memory. No one loves a slow PC, it’s frustrating to work with a slow PC. If your computer has started to slow down, I want to teach you how you can disable some windows start up programs and speed up your PC with CCleaner.

When you install programs on your computer, it adds a small program that starts when your windows starts. When you have a lot of these startup programs on your PC, your computer begins to slow down, your boot up process becomes slow because all the startup programs will initiate startup once your computer boots to Windows and this may cause your PC to hang for awhile or respond slowly.

You can disable Windows startup programs manually or with a free tool CCleaner. I prefer the later because it will give you a total control on all the startup programs and it is quite simple as well.

How to disable Windows Startup Programs with CCleaner:

1. Download CCleaner  from Filehippo and install on your PC.

2. On completion of installation, Run the installed CCleaner program.

3. Click on Tools > Startup then click on the startup program you want to disable and click on “Disable”.

As you can notice from the image above, the disabled Windows startup programs are not highlighted while the active startup programs are shown in highlighted color. Note to only disable the unnecessary startup programs only. You have to leave your antivirus programs or any other security programs on your system enabled.
