In building a brand across your various social networks, it is imperative to have a distinctive URL. It is easier to remember a unique URL and as thus I am going to show you how I created a unique public profile URL for my LinkedIn account.
Look at these two profile URLs; ng.linkedin.com/pub/desmond-nwosu/27/347/96a and ng.linkedin.com/in/mavtrevor. Which do you think will be easier to remember? The later of course, i am concerned with building a brand for myself with my profile username in all my social networks. I have the following unique URLs already;
Facebook: http://facebook.com/mavtrevor
Twitter: http://twitter.com/mavtrevor
Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/mavtrevor/
Google +: http://gplus.to/mavtrevor and now
LinkedIn: ng.linkedin.com/in/mavtrevor
So if you have successfully found your LinkedIn public profile URL from my earlier post titled ‘How to find LinkedIn profile URL‘, follow a little more instructions to learn how you can customize it to look simpler like I did with mine.
How to create a Custom LinkedIn Public Profile URL:
Step 1: Go to the Profile tab of your LinkedIn account
Step 2: Click the ‘Edit’ button close to your name as indicated on the image below
Step 3: Click on the ‘Change Public Profile Settings’ under the ‘Name’ Section as indicated on the image below.
Step 4: On the right hand sidebar, you will see ‘Your public Profile URL’ click on the ‘Customize your public profile URL’ as indicated on the image below.
Step 5: Enter your desired brand name or username in the box provided just like I entered ‘Mavtrevor’ in mine and click the ‘Set Custom URL’ button as indicated on the image below.
Now as you can see my LinkedIn public profile URL is no more ng.linkedin.com/pub/desmond-nwosu/27/347/96a rather ng.linkedin.com/in/mavtrevor which is a bit easier to remember. So to easily share my LinkedIn public profile URL I can simply use ng.linkedin.com/in/mavtrevor.
Now I hope you can create your own custom LinkedIn public profile URL. If you have any questions/suggestions or comments please use the comment form below.
