How to create a Blog site

December 21, 2011 By Nwosu Desmond 7 Comments

You have always considered starting a blog, there are so many things you have always wanted to write about,  yet you don’t know where to start or even how to start. Today i am going to teach you how to easily start a  Blog website and start publishing your content on the internet.

First you have to decide what you want to write about. There are a lot of bloggers on the internet already,  for you to attract good number of readers you will have to be original and unique. You cant just blog about anything, you must blog on a topic you are an authority on, something you are passionate about and have lots of experience with.

How to create a blog.

Then depending on the bouyancy of your pocket you can decide if you will want a self hosted or free hosted  blog. I know you may be wondering if there are advantages to hosting your blog by yourself, why don’t i  simply use a free hosted blog? Yes, there are advantages. For free blogging services like WordPress,  blogger, they are free, but nothing is really free. With a free blogging service you don’t get your own desired domain name (like this blog which has Netmediablog). You get something like  www.netmediablog.blogspot.com or www.netmedia.wordpress.com (NOTE:sites don’t exist). Then on the other hand, hosting your own domain will provide you with so many advantages like having your desired domain  name, and you will have the ability to tweak your blog to any extent. So hosting your own domain will provide you with much more flexibility and freedom to do whatever you want.

If you want me to help you set up a blog like mine for as little as $50 without hosting or $80 with hosting  contact me via my contact us page. (N10,000 flat for Nigerians).

The next step will be choosing a domain name, once you’ve made up your mind on the type of hosting you will  prefer -free or self hosted. Then you find a reliable web host for your blog. There are so many of them out there like Godaddy, Syskay etc.

From experience i will advice you to use any host that offers fantastico in their cpanel because this will  provide you with a 1-click (easy) installation process. Once you have acquired your domain name and hosting  for your blog, login to your cpanel, scroll down till you see  Fantastico De Luxe under the  Software/Services category. Click on it, then under blogs by your left hand corner you will see Blogs, under it are listed 3 blogging platforms – b2evolution, Nucleus and WordPress. Click on WordPress, and click on new installation. Fill the little form there appropriately and finish by clicking on install WordPress. Please take note of the little warnings on that page and follow the directives accordingly.

Then you can visit your new blog site @ www.yourdomainname.com (yourdomainname being the domain name you purchased) and see that it has been installed. Now you can login to your blog site and start customising it  to look as beautiful as mine. You can also contact me to help you with the installation of necessary plugins and themes if the need be.

Now you are ready to start publishing on the internet. make your thought heard. Change the world with your knowledge. Now get up and start writting, don’t keep that knowledge wasting in your little  skull……hahaha.

Thanks for a very interesting blog. What else could I get that type of information written in such a perfect manner? I’ve a project that I’m simply now operating on, and I’ve been at the look out for such information.

That is the right weblog for anyone who desires to find out about this topic. You realize a lot its nearly laborious to argue with you (not that I actually would need…HaHa). You positively put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Nice stuff, just nice!

Why wordpress? yeah using a self hosted domain is nice bcos of flexibility and all that, I would prefer a free hosting site. Why? lots of reasons
    1. you might just want to test bloggng and not want to invest your money like that. and on the issue of wordpress……….
wordpress is the almost the least secure blogging platform. I would advice blogger instead being the most secure or joomla. nice one though

Of course on a free hosted platform you may not worry about bandwidth but then it can not be compared to the flexibility of having a self-hosted blog and you can’t possible say WordPress is the least secured blogging platform, every blogging platform has its strength and weaknesses. I choose wordpress for so many reasons which includes its simplicity, the plugins as i dont have to manually edit my template so as not to break it.
