How to backup Website/Blog using Cpanel

October 21, 2012 By Babanature 3 Comments

Backing up website/blog is the first priority every blogger should have to seriously consider, any blog without proper backup is vulnerable to data lost. Imagine you installed or updated your blog and just after that your blog crashed, and you try to uninstall the update to reverse your actions and get your blog back, and yet you still experience same problems and just then you remembered you didn’t backup your website/blog before the problem arose, now what will you do? Will you start a fresh install? Save yourself the troubles and start backing up today.

How to backup your Website/Blog using Cpanel

To prevent yourself from such risks, I am going to teach you how to backup website/ blog from your Cpanel.

How to backup Website/Blog using Cpanel:

Step 1. First, login to your Cpanel, under files click “Backup”

Step 2. On the new interface click “Download or generate a full website backup”

Step 3. Choose your Backup destination and ensure you added your email address on the email field to notify you when your backup is completed.

Note: you can save your backup file in your home directory or any remote location. If you choose remote location as your destination, you must fill in your server, username and password, port, and the remote directory.

Step 4. Now click the “Generate backup” you will be notified that your backup process has begun. Once the backup process is completed, if you entered an email address, you will receive a confirmation email saying “Your backup has been completed”

You don’t have to do another install of your site again, so next time you find yourself in such a situation with no way out, just restore your backup. A wise word from a decent man: always backup your website every three days or if you don’t have that time, you can do it once a week for protection.
