Google is retiring Meebo Chat Messenger

June 21, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond Leave a Comment

Google is retiring Meebo Chat Messenger:

It’s no more news that Google Inc acquired Meebo but what is news today is that Google is retiring Meebo Chat Messenger. Meebo is an online chat messenger client that allows you to connect and chat with your friends in multiple chat networks at a time. Meebo was a success for people like me that don’t like to install multiple chat messenger clients on my laptop. You can chat with friends on Yahoo messenger, Facebook, Gtalk, Msn and even more all at once.

Now Google has announced that they will be retiring Meebo  by July 11, 2012. This may not be as bad as it sounds for website owners that uses the Meebo Bar as the Meebo team has announced that site publishers will continue to use the Meebo Bar and has promised to provide continued improvements and probably adding new features in the coming weeks and months.

And as for the Messenger users like me, they have asked us to download our archived Messenger chats log. To do this you will have to login to your Meebo account on Meebo chat Messenger and there you will find your download link. After July 11, 2012 the chats archives will be deleted so rush now and download yours.

Now we are going to miss Meebo online chat messenger. I hope Google has a better plan for us. Though i can’t stop pondering “Is Google trying to monopolize the internet?“
