Google Discloses Disavow Backlinks SEO Tool

July 7, 2013 By Irina Webandyou 20 Comments

After Google received a lot of requests over the past few months from Search Engine Optimization specialists and web designers, the giant search engine lastly revealed the backlink tool called “disavow”. If you consider that Disavow backlinks Tool will assist you to promptly recuperate from a Penguin strike, you’d better think once again.

Matt Cutts pointed out in his nine minute Disavow links video, that it is an advance back linking tool, and beware not to use of it unless you are absolutely particular that spam links are certainly causing the problem of your ranking. Actually I lost my trajectory many times the way he recapped this idea – he stated that typical web site owner should not use it and only those who are really contented with the technical aspect of their websites must even consider utilizing it.

Google disavow backlinks toolAs a matter of fact, exactly what I got from the video clip is that this tool is not intended to aid sites to recuperate from Penguin. Instead, it’s implied to be utilized by website owners who have already been warned by Google through their account in Webmaster Tool that search engines has actually detected unnatural backlinks of your website. Excitingly, Cutts mentioned that Google will certainly begin featuring in these messages instances—in most cases up to three detected unnatural links of your site. It won’t be an extensive checklist, obviously, yet at least now you’ll have a sign of where to begin and exactly what to try to find.

Google intend for website owners to utilize disavow links tool right after you have actually obtained a manual notice and tried to eliminate all spammy and unnatural links from your site as much as possible. You might get to that point fairly swiftly, by the way. In the recent forum thread on the related subject, Dr. Marie an online forum member stated her own understanding on assisting her clients get rid of bad backlinks. “Averagely, I got 15-20 % of unnatural links being eliminated from the site through the use of comprehensive contact outreach. For some re-inclusion requests are sufficient, but for others it is not,” she further.

So how exactly Disavow Backlinks Tool work?

Firstly, you need to have an admin status of your site in Google Webmaster Tool, in this way you can prevent from potential abuse. If ever you run a multiple website just pick one you preferred and then visit the tool. Eventually you will receive a warning stated that “this is an advance function and need to be use with caution”. However you should be careful in using it because using it improperly will potentially harm your website’s performance and search engine results.  It is highly recommended that disavow backlinks tools be use only when you believe that your site have a potentially unnatural, low quality and spammy links, and if you are very certain that those links are responsible for the poor performance of your site.

The next thing you need to do is to upload content file that contains the link that you want to disavow, one in every line. You might use hash tag (#) indicator to the front of the line to allow you to comment if you want to include notes that explains what exactly you are doing and why. You may also use SEO Round Table in providing a fuller summary for the said treatment.

Moreover, Matt Cutts mentions that the efficiency of the said tools will be seen in just a few weeks, because they needed to certainly re-crawl and review your website and check those links. See, you could tell Google to disavow your backlinks; however the search engine is looking at it as strong recommendation to decide if those backlinks should be an issue in your SERP’s current position.

By the way, this is one of the reason why Google consider disavow backlinks tool as an advance tool for SEO – it’s far too simple, if you are careless, you might mistakenly disavow a link that is healthy for your site. If ever you made such mistake you can return to your content file and update it, and once again publish it, but base on the statement of Matt Cutts it takes too much time to correct those inaccuracy.

The feedbacks to the said tool have been actually mixed. Some SEO experts consider it as the best thing after sliced bread. However other suspecting any Google conspiracy. For an instance, Barry Schwartz contemplates it as the best spam reporting device Google introduced recently.
