July 18, 2012 By Nwosu Desmond 3 Comments

Microsoft has finally released its Microsoft Office 2013 Consumer preview. This is a beta version of the Final Microsoft Office 2013 and they have made it available for download for its beta users on their website. The release includes Microsoft Word 2013, Microsoft Excel 2013, Microsoft PowerPoint 2013, Microsoft Access 2013, Microsoft Outlook 2013, and Microsoft OneNote 2013.

This is coming not long after Microsoft launched its latest operating system Windows 8. Microsoft Office 2013 is designed to perform best in Windows 8 devices. The new Microsoft office 2013 has been designed to include new features which I will highlight below.

Features of the new Microsoft Office 2013:

Best optimized for Windows 8 devices: The new Microsoft Office 2013 has been designed for Windows 8 PCs and Tablets. This new Office responds to touch and this definitely makes it awesome as you can swipe your finger across the screen to zoom or pinch your documents or presentations.

Cloud services: Now you can save all your documents in the cloud on SkyDrive and access, edit and share it from any part of the world on logging in with your Microsoft ID. Your documents and settings roam with you with the Microsoft Office 2013 in the cloud.

Integration with Social networks: Imagine viewing multiple email accounts, Facebook updates and LinkedIn feeds all in one place with Microsoft Outlook 2013. You can now connect and chat with your co-workers in real-time right within your Microsoft Office 2013.

Creating and editing PDF files without a third party applications: Now you can create and edit PDF file formats with the new Microsoft Office 2013 without installing any extra third party application. You can as well save a document in Adobe (PDF) format. You can also embed PDF file inside a word file.  I never imagined Microsoft Office application can ever read and edit a PDF file but the new Office 2013 has made it possible.

Youtube videos: One can now be able to embed and play Youtube video clips easily on the Microsoft Office 2013. You can even search the web for videos without leaving Word using Bing.

Collaboration: Collaborating on a document with Microsoft Office 2013 just became more fun as comments can now be embedded to a document.

Microsoft Apps: Microsoft is bringing the app store concept to Office. Apps can be installed on each application. This is made possible by the use of a new programming interface for Office which is based on Javascript and HTML. The new Office store will offer many free and paid apps for download to enhance the usability and functionality of Office 2013.

Skype (video conferencing): The new Microsoft Office 2013 can allow you to talk to anyone using Skype even without leaving the application. You can also make high definition video conference with your family, co-workers and friends right from inside the new Microsoft Office 2013.

Simply put, Microsoft Office 2013 simply got smarter. Download and Try the new Microsoft Office 2013 Customer preview copy now  or download directly.
