Cloud computing has remained a trending phrase for a long time, yet not everyone knows about it. Though you may not know what cloud computing means but you have been seriously involved with it. Today I want to highlight to you how much involved your everyday life is with cloud computing. I am not going to introduce “Cloud Computing” for those that are hearing about it for the first time. Cloud computing and your everyday life:
Do you remember when you have to burn songs on a disc for your friends to hear at work? Do you remember when you used to carry your most important documents on a USB drive? Do you remember when you used to email yourself your Resume and other documents so you can have a copy of it in your email? Cloud computing has revolutionized how we live every day.
How much involved are you with cloud computing even without being aware of it? Let’s take a look at some of the most common ways we have been involved with cloud computing.
Cloud storage and Syncing services is an online backup service that provides us with the platform to store our data online so we can access it from anywhere anytime. With the rapid development of cloud computing, cloud sync services has grown to a level where we can now trust that our data is safer online than offline. The days of worrying for hard disk failure, computer theft etc are gone with the development of these services. So if you have been making use of online storage and syncing services like Dropbox, SugarSync, Windows Live Mesh etc, then you have been involved with cloud computing.
Email services whether free or premium is a product of cloud computing. This is the oldest implementation of cloud computing. Electronic mail has changed the way we exchanged messages worldwide and its contribution can never and will never be forgotten. Our emails are hosted on cloud servers so we can access them from any part of the world any time any day. Now I guess you have been nodding your head in agreement.
Now you can stream movies online, watch videos on Youtube, play radios online, play games online, upload and share pictures on the internet and can even edit pictures and documents online with online picture editing or online document editing tools.
You can now schedule tasks, appointments, meetings, anniversaries etc without having to carry a little diary around. Can you remember when you cannot withdraw money from your own account from another branch of the same bank? Now banks and other companies have shifted the applications virtually and can now use it online and has thus made lives easier.
Now you can work from any part of the world and with any computer if you have moved to the cloud. You can now use your favorite work tools online without having to install any application on your computer. This was only made possible by cloud computing. I foresee a future where people may not even leave their houses yet they will be working for their companies but through their homes.
Cloud computing has provided us with countless opportunities, now you can remotely access files in your home computer from work. You can even access them using Smartphones or Tablets.
